Highlights this week ranged from sad news that Demon’s Souls servers would be shutting down early next year to a bit more weird with the reveal of a Super Mario Cereal with boxes that have amiibo nfc chips built in.
Fans of Final Fantasy XV were also probably happy to hear that the game will continue to receive DLC support throughout 2018 with three more episodes. This likely means the quality of life and feature updates will continue as well, along with more content for the game’s recently launched Comrades co-op multiplayer mode. I actually bought this game way back when it launched, but only put a few hours into it. I have conflicted feelings about it, somewhat regretting picking up the console version since its coming to PC, but also I am happy I didn’t play it much considering so many updates have come out since then to make it a better experience. I’d still like to play it someday and will consider picking up the PC version if I can find a decent enough deal. I never bought any of the DLC thankfully, so it won’t be as big of a waste as it could have been.
This week we can look forward to both The Game Awards and PlayStation Experience, both of which I am expecting big announcements from. I am mostly curious about Nintendo’s plans for The Game Awards as they are almost guaranteed to show off something. The most likely scenario is a trailer for the Breath of the Wild DLC which is supposed to launch this year still apparently despite the fact that we still don’t have a date. I am really hoping this DLC reveal really blows me away because the first part of the season pass was quite underwhelming. I am also crossing my fingers for an even bigger announcement than this though, however Nintendo usually likes to save these major reveals for their own Directs. I’d expect to see what From Software has been cooking up at one of these two events, however I think it is more likely to be Sony’s considering the large chance we could see a Bloodborne sequel or perhaps even a Demon’s Souls remaster. They did say no more Souls games I guess, but I don’t know if that included remakes or remasters as well.
Anyway, be sure to stay tuned this coming week and weekend as I’ll be rounding up every new trailer coming from both events.
