Fallout 76 was a game that intrigued me initially with its reveal as the idea of infusing multiplayer into almost anything often sounds fun in concept. However unfortunately after seeing the new gameplay footage this week from many who had hands-on experiences with them I am very underwhelmed and concerned about the quality of the game. Before getting into the technical issues the game itself just simply appears very bland and unoriginal as it essentially takes concepts we’ve already seen too many times and slaps on the Fallout IP. It’s clear this was simply built using Fallout 4 assets as well, making it seem like nearly enough effort went into it for what you’d think would be a AAA project with the Bethesda brand. Then there is the performance and visual issues as it was not only a dated looking game, but it ran very poorly and sluggish. I’m not sure if this was running on a Xbox One S or X, but I hope it wasn’t the latter because the performance was abysmal. In the end I wasn’t sold on the game at all from this event and I’m somewhat amazed that Bethesda would show it off in this state. You’d think they would demo the PC version or something so we could see it running at peak performance.
Fallout 76 looking disappointing is sad, but also possibly somewhat of a relief because Fall and Winter 2018 is so congested with intriguing new releases that I wouldn’t mind shortening that list in some select cases. Anyway, hope you all had a great week, I’m hoping we’ll see some Smash updates soon as am anxious to see a new character.
