I wanted to give a heads up on some big changes coming very soon for The Game Cavern. I’ve pretty much decided that I think I am going to shut down this website, but this doesn’t necessarily mean The Game Cavern is dead. I’ve thought about it a lot and I think most people who do visit here just like to quickly see some of the top headlines or new trailers, something which I can more easily and freely achieve on something as simple as Twitter. To save money I think that is what I will do from here on out and I’m thinking I’ll shift my focus towards Youtube again and possibly start streaming sometimes too as I play through various games.
Constantly scavenging the net for game news and trying to keep up with writing reviews as as a one-man team was manageable, but it did make it harder for me to focus on the Youtube channel and the possibility of streaming as well. I’ve had a lot more positive feedback and interaction from others on Youtube compared to here as well which was a pretty big deciding factor.
I’m still not exactly sure about my Youtube or future plans just yet, but I would like to try and make it a regular thing like I did with the website. I always felt bad about basically abandoning the channel and stopping my videos reviews, the process was just so time consuming and was extended further by my terrible internet connection when trying to upload anything. I’m thinking right now that if I do shift over to Youtube, I will keep it pretty casual and not heavily edited or scripted. This means I probably won’t have video reviews like I used to, but rather videos casually discussing my thoughts on particular title or sharing commentary as I play.
So yeah, The Game Cavern in 2019 and possibly as early as this month will likely be found only on Twitter and Youtube instead of here on the website. So if you liked checking for news I’d recommend just following my Twitter and keep on eye on the feed as I’ll be pushing out all the big trailers and for ones for smaller indie projects too if I find them interesting or if I think others might. I am also considering the possibility of finding a new home to join as a contributor of some sort too, a scenario which may hamper The Game Cavern plans to an extent.
Sorry if I disappointed any of you with the news, but I really feel its time to move onto something different and refreshing for 2019. Once again, if you liked coming here to see trailers and new game reveals, just follow my Twitter account. You are also welcome to subscribe to my Youtube channel which I should hopefully be rebooting soon and being more active on it. I plan to continue posting news here to an extent until I’ve decided to wrap things up completely on the site. My current thought is that it will probably come to a conclusion sometime between next week and hte end of the year, meaning you can still expect a post with all The Game Awards trailers Thursday night. I also have a review planned to go up later in the week too so keep an eye out for that as well.
I think I’ll probably do a test stream for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate the night of its launch too so check out Youtube that night or afterwards for a recording.
As always, I hope you all had and have a great week!
