While Runic Games may be no more, Torchlight remains kindled with the reveal of Torchlight Frontiers.

Torchlight Frontiers combines the heart of the beloved Torchlight series with a shared, persistent and dynamically generated world. In true Torchlight style, players will team up with friends and devoted pets to hack and slack their way through a vibrant world, discover ancient ruins of lost civilizations and brave dungeons filled with riches and dangerous creatures.

Publisher Perfect World Entertainment previously shut down Runic Games in an effort to shift their complete focus to games as a service titles, Torchlight Frontiers being one of the first titles revealed after the transition.

Despite Runic Games being absent, the game does actually have a creative force behind it led by Max Schaefer, who formerly worked for the company before founding Echtra Inc. alongside Blizzard Entertainment veteran Tyler Thompson.  With the website advertising the fact that it comes from the creators of Torchlight 1 and 2, we can only assume this means that the studio has picked up some former Runic Games employees.

Release is currently planned for 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.  Beta sign-ups are currently available on the official website.
